Revenue and Cost Allocation Model (RCAM)

Project Success Factors

The RCAM project will have been a success if we:

  • Enable a better understanding of what central support functions are
  • Identify stable processes and adequate funding to support those functions
  • Create a direct, understandable link between central service usage and cost
  • Achieve more equitable allocations among the schools in funding central services
  • Define a common, basic market basket of shared services
  • Expand incentives beyond enrollment to enable schools to meet their academic and research missions
  • Redesign the budget model with planning parameters that supports both school- based priorities and university strategic initiatives
  • Design a process that matches revenue to expense, and expenses to budget authorization
